Morning and evening: why the order of a routine changes

The number on the bottle is a permanent product identifier. It does not tell you where the product goes in a routine. This page tells you that.

05

The two evening options

Alternate, never combine

On a retinol night, use retinol. Not another retinoid, not benzoyl peroxide, and not an acid exfoliant, 03 included. 06 replaces 03 rather than joining it.

Exfoliation night

01 → 03 → 04 → 05

Renewal night

01 → 06 → 04 → 05

Evening use only. Start with one night a week for the first two weeks, on completely dry skin. Damp skin increases penetration and increases irritation with it. Add a second night only once the first is uneventful, and keep 05 on those nights rather than skipping it.

Retinoids increase sun sensitivity, so daily sunscreen is not optional alongside them.

Retinoids are not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding, speak to your physician before using any retinoid.
