You can have the right products at the right concentrations, but if you apply them in the wrong order you will not get the results you expect. Order is not a minor detail. It is part of how a formula works.
The basic rule: thinnest to thickest
Skin absorbs lightweight textures best first. If you apply a thick cream before a liquid serum, that cream forms a layer that makes it harder for the serum to penetrate. That is why the general order runs from the lightest textures toward the thickest.
- Cleanser
- Liquid serums, the most concentrated actives, which absorb best on clean skin
- Eye serum, a delicate area with a lightweight texture
- Moisturizer, which seals in everything before it
- Sunscreen, if it is daytime, always last
Why this is not just theory
When the order is reversed, it is not that things work slightly less well. It can mean a carefully formulated Vitamin C never reaches the skin at all, because there is already a layer of cream on top. You are using the right product and losing its effect to the order.
One exception worth knowing
Sunscreen always goes last in a daytime routine, without exception, even if its texture is light. Its job is to form a protective layer on the surface, so it needs to sit on top of everything rather than underneath.
The honest conclusion
You do not need to memorize a long list. Remember the logic: lightest first, thickest last, sunscreen always last.
In the Lumyra system: 01, then 02 in the morning or 03 or 06 in the evening, then 04, then 05.
